What is it?
An application that will enable seamless personal budgeting, based on well known accounting principles. Basically, it will be a new and modern GNUCash available on any device that can run an app or browser (iOS, Android, Mac, Linux, Windows).
The app will allow either local only storage or connecting to a database (DB) of your choice (for a small fee I will also host a DB to assist with development costs).
I am yet to decide which licence to develop under, but will be sure to include this information in a future post & link to Github.
What tech stack will be used?
I will primarily use Flutter for this effort. The data will be stored locally using SQLite (intending on having encryption on the file) or alternatively connection to a remote DB will be possible too. I do not currently have access to an Apple device, so the Apple support will be in the backlog to start with.
Who is this for?
Households, individuals, couples are the primary target group. The idea is to enable multi-user support from the get-go. Because there is a DB support, it will be cross-device always synced. There will be local cache in case you have no signal/internet, with syncing done automatically when signal is restored.
The idea is to enable anyone to track their finances with a ledger system on any device at any time.
